An hour and a half south of Tokyo is Ito, and it sits along the coast and has a population of almost 70,000 people, yet it seems like it’s such a tiny town. The population is declining and the shops are seeing less and less tourists these days. You’ll notice in the middle of the video how the shopping street has many establishments that are closed. This isn’t because it’s a holiday, it’s because fewer and fewer people are coming to Ito. Thankfully, there are a number of big-city folks that are making Ito their getaway destination more frequently these days.
