Why Jerry Neuheisel left his forever home to coach at Northwestern

When Jerry Neuheisel was swept into the stands after coaching the winless Bruins to an upset victory over No. 7-ranked Penn State last October, it seemed he was destined to be at UCLA forever. In addition to being a coach, Neuheisel was born at the UCLA Medical Center and played quarterback there. That day, Neuheisel said he loved UCLA more than anything. But just half a year later, Neuheisel is spending most of his time in a facility overlooking Lake Michigan and scouring tape on how to get the most out of transfer quarterback Aidan Chiles and Northwestern’s other signal callers.
