Fishing Nice and Shallow Around Mud Island

Left from Wellington Point early, conditions were sloppy but once we reached the island we went straight to the sheltered side and started fishing. We started off fishing some of the deeper reefs with no results, so moved on closer and found some decent shows on the sounder of fished lined up on the shallow reef edges. The fishing was slow all day, sure the final count of keepers looks impressive, but when you take into account we were fishing for 8 hours, averaging a keeper every hour feels very slow. Once again prawn imitations and grubs did most of the damage, with a notable mention to the holt productions swim crab, which tempted the first fish of the day.
