THINGS BEHIND THINGS BEHIND THINGS - Bon Iver cover

Bon Iver is probably my favorite living band. Somehow Justin Vernon manages to keep writing songs that speak directly to my soul, in a way that is rare, and hard to express. And the new EP “SABLE,” is no exception to this. The night I listened to it I just had to learn the guitar for “THINGS BEHIND THINGS BEHIND THINGS”. This song has a lot of atmosphere in the EP recording, and I thought it would be fun to create something similar with a loop pedal. And so my own take on the song emerged - thought I’d share it. For you guitarists wanting to play this, I’m probably not going to create a tab, but below are some tutorial notes: For the record, this is not the same key as the EP recording, and is not exactly how Justin Vernon plays it live either (it’s kinda close, but I took some artistic liberties). I played it with a capo on the 2nd fret of a guitar in standard tuning. Numbers are relative to the capo - meaning the capo is now fret 0. If you don’t know what that is, it’s fairly similar to the picking pattern in the intro of Elliott Smith’s Angeles, which I have a tutorial on - or you can go look up other videos of travis picking. I was somewhat winging it on the specifics of the picking - you do what sounds good to you!
