For Beatrix Potter, it was the tiny watercolour interiors of her book illustrations — the perfectly set tables seen from rabbit height, the hedgerows drawn with botanical precision, the small larders where everything is just so. For me, it is embroidery and dollshouses — careful worlds where nothing is hurried and everything is chosen for its particular kind of quiet beauty. This is cottage life.
