Ampleforth College faces questions over pupil safeguarding

Ampleforth College is one of the most prominent Catholic private schools in the country. But In 2018, an independent inquiry found that a number of children there had suffered appalling sexual abuse over decades, involving monks at Ampleforth Abbey. (Subscribe: https://bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe) In November the school was banned by the government from accepting new pupils, after it failed to show inspectors that it could keep them safe. Now this programme has seen a letter to the government from a solicitor for victims of historic abuse at the school, alleging it has not fully separated itself from the Abbey, as it had been told to.
