Botanical Me: Mieko Ishikawa Mieko Ishikawa has become Japan’s most prominent botanical artist and a leading advocate for the continued biodiversity of rainforests. Her outstanding work has been much admired internationally, and she is highly knowledgeable about the plants she paints. She has travelled many times to Borneo, where she has painted Rafflesia and Nepenthes. Mieko is also noted for her subtle and beautiful studies of conifers and cherry blossoms. Her paintings are held in renowned collections worldwide, and she has received numerous accolades, including a Royal Horticultural Society Gold Medal and The Shirley Sherwood Award in 2022.
