Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we have a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Airbags. These air helper springs are more commonly known as airbags are going to mount between the frame of your vehicle and the top of your axle. And what they're designed to do is they will help to support the rear end of your truck when hauling a heavy load in the bed or on the hitch. These air helper strings are going to have a load carrying capacity of 5,000 pounds and a PSI rating of a maximum of 100 PSI. Now these specific airbags are going to be able to, you can air them down to zero because they have an internal jounce bumper. We're gonna have to remove the factory jounce bumper from the frame rail and you'll see that there's a lot more space. There's about 6 inches of travel that the back of our vehicle used to have when the airbags weren't installed. Now that these are installed, you can have constant pressure, however much pressure that you want because they're gonna be adjustable. I highly recommend pairing a set of airbags or air helper springs with an onboard compressor. I personally like the Air Lift EZ Mount Compressor, the wireless one EZ Mount Compressor because it mounts up with a U-bolt on your frame and you don't have to use any self-tappers or tap it into your frame. It's very, very easy to get installed. With a compressor mounted on board, you can adjust your air pressure whenever you want. I had a set of airbags on my truck and I didn't have the compressor, the onboard compressor. And I'll tell you, it was a real pain having to find a gas station where I could get some more air if I didn't feel like I had enough or letting a little bit of air out and then going to pick up materials, then I had to find another air compressor to put some more air in. It's just a big hassle trying to decide when to put the air in, how much to put in. If you have an onboard compressor, you can pump these up to whatever PSI you want. If you feel like it was uncomfortable, either too little PSI or too much PSI, at the next stoplight you come to, you can let air out or add some more in. Now your kit is going to come with two manual inflation valves that we mounted up on a bracket here. Now we just had this bracket around the shop. It is a Firestone bracket for the dual port. We do have 'em available on our website if you choose to go with that. I just figured that was the cleanest way to install the port. Now you notice we only have one port here. That's 'cause if you tie in an onboard compressor, which is what we did, you'll have one manual inflation valve back here that T's off to both bags. And then you'll have another valve or another line that comes from the onboard compressor, T's off and goes to both bags also. So in the case of an emergency, if your compressor goes out for some whatever reason, if you get into higher water and you end up burning it up, you can fill up your bags and deflate them from the manual inflation valve. Now a common question we get here is that will this system make my ride more comfortable And the overall answer is no. It's not going to make it more comfortable because these are air helper springs and not air ride. There's a lot of confusion in there. These are strictly designed to help support the rear end of your vehicle. Now if you're looking at it from a towing perspective, yes these are absolutely gonna make your ride more comfortable. It'll get the back of your truck back up. You won't have any of that extreme sag in the back of your truck that you might already be experiencing or have seen going down the road. It'll bring the front of your vehicle back down, which you'll point your headlights back where they're supposed to be and give you a little bit more sure footing on your steering wheel. I can tell you from a personal experience, I've had airbags and I've driven a truck without airbags. And having a set of airbags is gonna make it so much better to tow. And when you pair it with an onboard compressor, you really can't go wrong. You can adjust your air pressure to whatever load you're hauling and you can do it on the fly. When it comes to installing this kit, it's not super difficult to get installed. I'd
