Der Geher in Hamburg: Rahlstedt

I am Der Geher and once again in Rahlstedt. Starting from Schweriner Straße, I head into the Rahlstedter Gehölz. The path leads past residential houses for a long time before the buildings become somewhat denser again at Am Hegen. The path ends with seating between high-rise buildings. Wehlbrook, also known as Rahlstedter Gehölz, is an area of mixed woodland in the east of Hamburg. The name probably comes from the many floods that left behind ponds, so-called Wehls. Cattle were grazed in the forest, so that there are hardly any really old trees. However, there are many mentions of a wooded area here dating back many centuries.
