Integrity Under Pressure | Maya Mendez | Torrey Pines Church

In week 2 of our God Intended It For Good series, Maya Mendez continues the story of Joseph in Genesis 39. After being betrayed by his brothers and sold into slavery, Joseph finds himself in Egypt, serving in Potiphar’s house. Even there, God is with Joseph, and Joseph continues to live with integrity under pressure. But when Potiphar’s wife falsely accuses him, Joseph’s integrity does not keep him from suffering. Instead, it lands him in prison. This message explores what Joseph’s story teaches us about living faithfully when integrity is tested: • Integrity doesn’t depend on my circumstances. Joseph decided in advance who he would be and where he would draw the line. He didn’t wait until pressure came to decide what mattered. • When we lack integrity, we often attack, blame, and twist the truth. Potiphar’s wife shows us how easily people can compromise the truth to protect themselves or settle a score. • Integrity comes with a cost. Doing the right thing doesn’t always mean people will understand, believe you, or treat you fairly. • Integrity speaks the truth but doesn’t seek revenge. Joseph doesn’t try to settle the score. He continues to be faithful and trusts God with the outcome. Joseph’s story also points us forward to Jesus, who was falsely accused, suffered unjustly, and maintained perfect integrity. Both Joseph and Jesus remind us that faithfulness to God may cost us, but God is still present, still working, and still writing the end of the story. If you are walking through a season where your character has been questioned, stories have been twisted, or doing the right thing has cost you, this message is a reminder: Maintain your integrity.
