Brought In | 1 John 1:1-4

What comes into your mind when you think of Jesus? A good man? A great teacher? If we are honest, many of us carry a Jesus who is smaller than the real one. A safe Jesus. A manageable Jesus. A Jesus who fits neatly into the lives we have already planned. In this sermon from 1 John 1:1-4, we see the Jesus the apostle John holds out to us: the One with no beginning, the One who is life itself, the One who is God, with God, from all eternity. And the staggering news of John's prologue is that this One did not stay where we could not reach him. He came down. He was heard, seen, studied, and touched by the hands of fishermen. And the God who came that close does not ask for a corner of your life. He came for all of you. But what does he do with his claim on you? Of all the messages the eternal God could have sent, he chose this one: Come in. Fellowship with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ is held out to you, so that your joy may be complete.
