Space and city are complex concepts, far from clear, worthy of joint consideration. The life of the contemporary individual unfolds through a process of socialization, with very different spatial experiences and interactions within cities. An individual's quality of life, well-being, potential for self-realization, renewal, and public experiences are shaped within the urban environment. While it's impossible to know exactly how this will happen, our future is being built in cities. Beyond being a source of inner turmoil and problems, the city contains untapped potential for developing new perspectives, shaping new social structures, and reconstructing ourselves and our immediate surroundings. Last November, in our discussion on architecture and psychoanalysis, Talat Parman and Nevzat Sayın started from Edip Cansever's proposition that "people resemble the places they live in" and discussed the home. This time, we're expanding the scale and including urban planner Murat Güvenç in our discussion, starting from the question of whether people resemble the cities they live in, and we will discuss the effects of space on the psyche at all scales. Murat Güvenç graduated from the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the Middle East Technical University (METU) Faculty of Architecture. He worked as a faculty member at METU for 28 years. He has publications and research in the fields of urban ecology, industrial geography, Istanbul and urban sociology, data analysis, and visualization. Prof. Güvenç, who is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the İlhan Tekeli Urban Culture Foundation, has prepared many publicly accessible and searchable demographic data and map platforms on the web. He is currently among the program presenters of Apaçık Radyo (Kentin Köpüğü - The Foam of the City).
