Welch Plug or Core Plug on a Carburetor- Remove Without a Drill - Easy! (by Craig Kirkman)
The 'Welch Plug', otherwise known as he 'Core Plug' sometimes needs to be removed to give your carburetor a thorough cleaning. Behind the Core/Welch Pug there is a series of small fuel holes that can become blocked. The commitment to cleaning behind these Plugs during servicing if often overlooked and none existent, and that's because the need to remove these to clean the build-up of debris is not that well known, even in your local repair center believe it or not. Unfortunately, this is because these plugs cannot be removed without damaging them and requiring the need for a new plug after removal. This, however, should not stop one from removing the Welch Plug and cleaning the Carburettor thoroughly first time. It might just save you a lot of time through experiencing less carburetor functioning complications later.
