Samson: Part 1- The Man Who Could've Been
Samson was chosen by God, set apart from birth, and given everything he needed to fulfill a powerful calling. Yet his life became one of the Bible’s greatest examples of what could have been. In Part 1 of our new series, Samson: The Man Who Could Have Been, we look at Judges 13 and the call to consecration. Samson was not primarily called to be strong. He was called to be set apart. His strength was his gift. His consecration was his calling. And the same question comes to each of us: What could we become if we fully surrendered our lives to God? Consecration is not simply about rules or restrictions. It is about belonging. Through Baptism and Chrismation, we have been set apart for Christ. The question is no longer, “How much can I get away with?” but, “Who could I become if I gave myself completely to God?” Don’t become the person who could have been. Become the person God has already set you apart to be. ⸻ Timestamps 00:00 - Introduction to the Life of Samson 01:17 - What Is More Tragic: No Potential or Wasted Potential? 01:46 - Samson: The Bible’s Greatest “What Could Have Been” 04:44 - The Danger of Wasted Calling 05:22 - Understanding the Cycle of Judges 06:16 - Historical Context: From Moses to the Judges 07:15 - Everyone Did What Was Right in Their Own Eyes 08:19 - Israel Fails to Drive Out the Nations 10:11 - Leaving the Door Open to Sin 12:01 - A “Whatever It Takes” Mentality 13:25 - Who Is the Standard for Your Life? 15:47 - Israel Under Philistine Oppression for 40 Years 16:17 - When Captivity Becomes Normal 17:17 - Who Will Stand in the Gap? 18:48 - God Is Looking for Someone Set Apart 19:22 - God Acts Even When Israel Stops Crying Out 20:22 - The Miraculous Birth of Samson 21:15 - “He Shall Begin to Deliver Israel” 21:42 - What Is a Nazirite? 22:53 - No Wine: Controlling Our Appetites 23:54 - Uncut Hair: A Visible Identity of Consecration 25:49 - No Contact With Death: Separating From What Destroys 27:16 - Appetite, Identity, and Life 28:46 - Samson’s Life Contradicted His Consecration 29:50 - Every Christian Has Been Set Apart 31:12 - Why Does Consecration Matter? 32:08 - Rules Are Not Enough 33:03 - Who Could You Become If You Gave Yourself Fully to God? 34:06 - “If You Keep My Commandments, You Will Abide in My Love” 36:02 - Change the Question 36:30 - Consecration Must Be Rooted in Love 37:45 - Why God Gives Us Boundaries 39:00 - What Is God Preparing You For? 40:21 - Manoah Asks How Samson Should Live 40:48 - Parents: What Is Your Goal for Your Children? 42:20 - Samson Had Everything 42:48 - Being Gifted Is Not the Same as Being Formed 43:18 - Are We Spiritually Obese? 44:23 - Holiness Is Knowing Who You Belong To 44:54 - Become What You Already Are 45:31 - Don’t Become the Person Who Could Have Been ⸻ Keywords Samson, life of Samson, Judges 13, Samson Bible study, Samson sermon, Coptic Orthodox sermon, Orthodox Christian sermon, consecration, Christian consecration, set apart for God, Nazirite vow, Nazirite, Numbers 6, wasted potential, divine calling, Christian calling, spiritual gifts, Christian character, holiness, Baptism, Chrismation, Holy Spirit, Philistines, Book of Judges, Manoah, Christian identity, belonging to God, Christian boundaries, spiritual discipline, temptation, fighting sin, spiritual growth, abiding in Christ, John 15, Orthodox Christianity, Coptic Church, St Mark Coptic Orthodox Church, Fr Elijah Estafanous ⸻ Hashtags #Samson #TheManWhoCouldHaveBeen #SetApartForGod #Consecration #Judges13 #BookOfJudges #CopticOrthodox #OrthodoxChristian #ChristianSermon #BibleStudy #ChristianCalling #Holiness #AbideInChrist #SpiritualGrowth #ChristianIdentity
