Emerson Lake & Palmer Live: 1974 Brain Salad Surgery Tour 7/26 Rich Stadium, Orchard Park, New York

Fans of the British Progressive Rock band Emerson Lake & Palmer will enjoy this video featuring a quite listenable audience recording of an absolutely spellbinding July 26, 1974 performance at Rich Stadium in Orchard Park, New York outside of Buffalo. After the recording and mixing sessions for the Brain Salad Surgery album ended in October 1973, the group rehearsed for their November 14, 1973 to August 21, 1974 world tour to promote the record. The group carried almost 40 tons of equipment. It included a 30-channel board discrete quadraphonic public address sound system and a state-of-the-art lighting rig with two arches above the performance area. Provided below is a list of the instruments used by ELP during the 1974 Brain Salad Surgery Tour. One piece of equipment not employed at this July 26th Rich Stadium gig was the "spinning piano". 1974 BRAIN SALAD SURGERY TOUR STAGE INSTRUMENTS: KEITH EMERSON Advanced Moog Modular System IIIc (including ribbon controller with "theatrical" effects) Two Minimoog Model D units Keith used the Minimoog on top of his Hammond L100 / Hohner Clavinet combo mainly for the bass lines when Greg Lake played the electric guitar. The Minimoog atop the Grand Piano was used to perform the steel drum solo in the middle of 'Karn Evil 9 - 2nd Impression'. Moog Lyra and Moog Apollo (Moog Constellation Synthesizer Ensemble) The Lyra and Apollo were both prototypes that Keith used in the studio and on stage. The Constellation was intended to be a 3-part setup with a fully polyphonic keyboard (Apollo), a separate monophonic synth (Lyra) plus a pedal board bass synthesizer (Taurus). Hammond C3 and L100 Organs Keith's C3 was the organ he played on all the 1970s ELP albums and tours. The L100 was used only on stage and was known for the legendary physical abuse Keith put it through. Its keys would be stabbed with a knife to hold down notes while it was wrestled to create feedback noises with the Leslie speakers. Steinway & Sons D274 Concert Grand Piano Hohner Clavinet D6 Essentially an electronically amplified clavichord, analogous to an electric guitar. Lawrence Audio Upright Electric Piano Small (73-note) electric upright folding keyboard. Struck strings, traditional piano action with soundboard, electromagnetic pickups. A spinning baby Grand Piano (only for a few gigs) Not many ELP fans realize that the spinning piano trick was first developed by Bob McCarthy (of the Long Island, New York theatrical effects company Wizard Productions) in 1959 for an American television program called The Steve Allen Show. You can see the same piano Keith Emerson used in late '73/74 as it was initially employed on April 12, 1959 in the clip linked here:    • The Steve Allen Show - Levitating Rotating...   GREG LAKE Fender Jazz bass / Gibson 'The Ripper' bass / Gibson Les Paul Custom / Rickenbacker 4001 Guitars used during various legs of the 1974 Tour Zemaitis six-string electric guitar Zemaitis Doubleneck bass and six-string electric guitars weighing 17.2 pounds https://www.vintageguitar.com/31892/g...
