It's hard to believe — especially from the outside, since you're probably barely showing at this point — but your baby has more than doubled in size during the past three weeks During week 8, your baby’s intestines were infringing on umbilical cord space. But this week, they’re completing the move back into the abdomen. Your baby's pituitary gland at the base of the brain has begun producing hormones, meaning she'll be able to have babies of her own one day. Your baby’s bone marrow is making white blood cells, so she’ll be able to fight off all those germs passed around the playground. This week, your baby can open and close her hands and curl his toes. Arms and legs still move together at this point. So I know it can be confusing to know what trimester, week, or month am I even in??? I broke down this simple chart to see how far along you are, with no confusion. Trimester 1 Month 1: Weeks 1 to 4 Month 2: Weeks 5 to 8 Month 3: Weeks 9 to 13 Trimester 2 Month 4: Weeks 14 to 17 Month 5: Weeks 18 to 22 Month 6: Weeks 23 to 27 Trimester 3 Month 7: Weeks 28 to 31 Month 8: Weeks 32 to 35 Month 9: Weeks 36 to 40 Mama As you near the end of your first trimester, your uterus, now about the size of a large grapefruit. Once you hit your second trimester, there's a new pregnancy symptom that may be added to the mix: dizziness. And guess who's to blame? Yup — it's your old friend progesterone again, which causes your blood vessels to relax and widen around 12 weeks pregnant, increasing the flow of blood to your baby (again, good for baby). What that means for you is lower blood pressure and reduced blood flow throughout your body, including to your brain. These factors can contribute to that light-headed, dizzy feeling — especially when you get up too quickly at 12 weeks pregnant Another cause of dizziness during pregnancy is low blood sugar levels, which can occur if you're not eating regularly.
