Another interesting solution was the raised steering wheel, which allowed the driver to sit down. The engine, which was taken from the Mercedes 300 S car, with direct fuel injection and a spatial, welded frame, was also innovative. The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL in the Gullwing version was powered by a 220 HP 6-cylinder engine with a capacity of 3 liters. It allowed to reach a top speed of 250 km / h, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h was 8.8 seconds. Already in the course of production, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL was considered a luxury car, and its price in Germany reached 29,000 marks, which was a huge price at that time.
