World Gravy Wrestling Championships in Slow Motion. This saucy event is back after a two-year break!

Plenty of the gooey brown stuff was on tap in this bizarre, saucy contest, where dozens of contestants wrestled in cold traditional Lancashire gravy – made from a mixture of meat juices, chopped up vegetables, and corn flour. To win the contest, contestants must wrestle for two minutes, with points being awarded for fancy dress, comedy effect, entertainment, and of course, wrestling ability. This year 30 contestants challenged the reigning champions from 2019; Skye Penty and 6-time male winner Joel Hicks. Around 2500 litres of gravy is made for the championship and the event aims to raise money for East Lancashire Hospice. This year, it was Lloyd Clarkson (dressed as Ali G) who won the men’s title while Imogen Young took top honours in the women’s category.
