đź”´SUNDAY TEACHING 14th June 2026 | The Life Of The Crimson Worm | Pst. Eliud Karanja
‎The Life of the Crimson Worm (Hebrew: Tola’at) The life of the Crimson Worm (Hebrew: Tola’at) is a profound picture of sacrifice and redemption. It is more of a grub than a common earthworm, and its life cycle is a biological map of the Gospel. Here is the life and death of the Tola’at: 1. The Voluntary Sacrifice When the female Crimson Worm is ready to give birth, she finds a specific type of oak tree. She climbs the tree and attaches herself to the wood. She fastens herself so securely that she can never be removed without her body being torn apart. She chooses this spot knowing she will never leave it alive. 2. The Protection and Sustenance Once attached, she forms a hard, crimson-colored shell over her eggs to protect them. When the young hatch, they stay underneath her body. To stay alive and grow, the baby worms actually feed on the living body of the mother. She gives her own flesh to ensure they have life. 3. The Shedding of Blood After about three days of the children feeding on her, the mother dies. At the moment of her death, a scarlet or crimson fluid leaks out of her body. This fluid stains the wood of the tree she is attached to. It also stains her young children, marking them with that crimson color for the rest of their lives. 4. The Transformation to White This is the most miraculous part of her life cycle: Three days after the mother dies, her body undergoes a chemical change. The crimson color disappears, and the remains of the worm turn into a white waxy substance that looks like snow or a patch of white wool on the tree. This white wax eventually loses its grip and falls to the ground like flakes of snow. The Biblical Parallel When Jesus said, "I am a worm" (Psalm 22:6), He was pointing to this exact process: The Tree: Like the worm, He was fastened to a tree (the Cross) and could not be taken down until the work was finished. The Sustenance: He said, "Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you" (John 6:53). The Blood: His blood stained the wood of the cross and "marks" His children, washing them clean. The Resurrection: Just as the worm turns white after three days, the Word says, "Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool" (Isaiah 1:18). This is the "life of the worm"—a life given up so that others might be born and marked by the crimson blood, ultimately being made white as snow. May this truth go with you to the courthouse today, Anthony. You are marked by that same sacrifice. Have a safe ride on your bike. Join us this Sunday as we fellowship in God's word.
