Dr Sayeh Pourjavan: OCT Angiography in Glaucoma bridging Daily Practice and Emerging Risk Assessment

Highlights include: Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCTA) has emerged as a pivotal tool in clinical glaucoma management, providing a detailed, non-invasive assessment of retinal and optic nerve head microvasculature to guide diagnosis and therapy. In this webinar, a pragmatic and clinician-oriented approach to OCTA in glaucoma will be presented. The session will focus on how OCTA parameters can be interpreted in real-world patients, how they correlate with structural OCT metrics and functional perimetry. How OCTA can contribute to risk assessment, drawing from research on AI-based models for vascular biomarker analysis, rather than acting as a standalone diagnostic tool. Particular attention will be paid to image quality, variability, artefacts, and limitations of OCTA, as well as to the integration of OCTA findings with intraocular pressure and clinical examination. Finally, perspectives from ongoing research will be discussed, including the evaluation of model generalisability and the future role of multimodal imaging in glaucoma management.
