Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, fatally shot during a motorcade in an open-top car. Lee Harvey Oswald, an employee of the nearby book depository, was quickly arrested, accused of the murder… and then killed two days later by Jack Ruby, live on television. The investigation was immediately taken over by federal authorities, and a controversial autopsy was conducted in Washington without an independent forensic examination. The Warren Commission concluded that Oswald acted alone, but its omissions, such as the lack of key witnesses and solid ballistic evidence, raise numerous doubts. Testimonies mention other shooters, a grassy knoll, and “agents” who were never identified. The investigation also ignored Oswald’s troubled past: a former Marine, an expatriate in the USSR, and pro-Cuban sympathies… whose motive remains unclear. Journalist Léo Sauvage launched a counter-investigation in 1965, highlighting major inconsistencies. For him, Oswald was a scapegoat, perhaps manipulated, sacrificed.
