Normal life must go on: a funeral on Monday, a wedding on Tuesday, and Holy Mass every Sunday. The daily routine of a priest in the Sauerland region. If only his cell phone didn't keep ringing, love letters didn't keep appearing in the mailbox, and balloons, hearts, and carrots shaped like dildos littering the front yard of the rectory. This has been going on for 12 years. Father Michael Hammerschmidt is being stalked. Psychological terror of the worst kind. "I want to kiss you," sings the blonde woman in front of the camera. The stalker dances, scantily clad, in front of the church. "When she first danced half-naked in front of the rectory, I filed a police report," says Michael Hammerschmidt. The result: A court imposed a fine, and the woman was forbidden from approaching the priest. But nothing helped: The woman continued to harass Michael Hammerschmidt. Until a few weeks ago, the stalker was even in pretrial detention, but was unexpectedly released. Two days later, she was back at the priest's house. The nightmare began in 2001. The Catholic priest was providing end-of-life care to the father of his future stalker. "She confided in me that her father had abused her. Then she said: I should atone for his actions." How does one cope with daily life? How does one deal with parishioners? The terror has made Father Michael Hammerschmidt ill – but he refuses to give up. Nor will he remain silent: because his stalker has become an inescapable part of his life.
