Jean-Luc Ponty's MIRAGE – Highbrow

More than 40 years after their last concert in 1982, the Hanoverian high school band »HIGHBROW« celebrated their reunion in February 2023 by playing for the first time after so many years in front of a small, hand-picked audience. The venue was Studio 1 of the Music School of the Hanseatic City of Lüneburg in northern Germany. In only three days of preparation they put together their repertoire from four decades ago. While most of the program was self-composed, they played three pieces by world-famous musicians, including Frank Zappa and the Rolling Stones. The centerpiece of the program, however, was »Mirage«, written and often performed live by the incomparable jazz violinist Jean-Luc Ponty. When Mr. Ponty learned of Highbrow's upcoming reunion, he asked the band to send him a recording. So this is for you, dear Jean-Luc! Thank you so much for giving the world your wonderful music!
