Stony Point Rd Level Crossing, Bittern - Metro Railway Crossing

Stony Point Road Level Crossing, Bittern 3918 VIC Australia Line: Stony Point Line Chapters: 0:00 Intro & Crossing description 0:30 Activation (Northern Angle) 3:05 Activations (Southern Angle) 6:50 Activations (Western Angle) This level crossing is located on the Stony Point Line, 1km before Bittern Station. This crossing is a unique setup, as there is an extra cantilever so that traffic travelling southbound on Frankston - Flinders Rd are able to see the flashing lights. Another notable thing is that this crossing also controls the traffic light intersection between Frankston - Flinders Rd and Stony Point Rd, giving traffic time to clear the crossing before it activates (although it didn’t do so well with that duty in the first activation.) These traffic lights, to my knowledge were installed around late 2007. The unelectrified Stony Point line is run by V/Line diesel Sprinter Trains, however is classified as a Metro service. The crossing equipment includes: 16 Westinghouse LED Lights 6 Westinghouse crossarms 2 General Signals Type 2 E-Bells 2 Safetran boom gate mechanisms 2 Wishbone Gates 6 Artcraft gate lights 1 Artcraft Healthy State Indicator (HSI) 2 Unmarked bases 1 Cantilever 3 White SORS signs 4 White crossbucks This crossing has not been listed on the Victorian Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), so this crossing will be staying here for the foreseeable future.
