What many don't know is that, behind the impeccable and majestic palaces, the lives of King Frederick and Queen Mary are quite... controversial. Let's see. The meeting between Frederick and Mary Donaldson in Sydney seemed like something out of a modern fairy tale: a young Australian woman, an ordinary citizen who worked in a bar, won the heart of the Crown Prince of Denmark. The Australian media dubbed her "the modern Cinderella." The path wasn't easy: Queen Margrethe, Frederick's mother, was skeptical at first, worried that her son would marry a foreigner with no experience in royal life. Still, love eventually prevailed.
