The Pythagorean Theorem Finally Makes Sense
In this video, we prove the most famous formula in school by sliding four triangles around inside a square. Not the algebra you were handed in eighth grade, the actual picture that makes it obvious. We take a right triangle, draw a real square on each of its three sides, and watch the two small ones fill the big one exactly. Then we do it again with the triangles moved, and the equation falls out of the empty space left behind. We'll cover why counting tiles isn't a proof, why this rule secretly defines distance itself, how it builds the equation of a circle, where the trig identity sin² + cos² = 1 comes from, why a US president published his own proof five years before taking office, and what happens to the whole thing when you draw it on a sphere instead of a flat page. Every formula you memorized was a picture once. Someone saw it before anyone wrote it down. #maths #math #pythagoras_theorem #pythagoreantheorem #geometry #mathematics #visualmath #mathanimations #proof #manim #education #stem 00:00 The Formula Everyone Memorizes 00:48 Testing the Theorem 01:48 The Visual Proof 03:32 Why the Proof Works 04:26 Why It Matters 06:17 More Proofs & Higher Dimensions 07:44 When the Theorem Breaks
