In today's class, we continue discussing customs and beliefs that have become widespread among some Muslims despite having no basis in Islam. We discuss practices that people adopt out of tradition, emotion, or superstition, and explain the importance of distinguishing authentic teachings from inherited customs. We also cover misconceptions related to mourning, burial, washing the deceased, and beliefs regarding the grave and the afterlife. We further discuss certain practices carried out during the funeral procession and after death that are often assumed to be part of the religion when they are not.
