Severodvinsk (Molotovsk until September 12, 1957) is a city in the Arkhangelsk Oblast of Russia, the administrative center of the Severodvinsk Municipal Formation. Founded in 1936 as a workers' shipbuilding settlement, it received city status in 1938. In 2016, it was designated a City of Labor Valor and Glory. By Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated April 16, 2015, No. 668-r "On Approval of the List of Single-Industry Towns," Severodvinsk was included in the category of "Single-Industry Municipal Formations of the Russian Federation (Single-Industry Towns) with a Stable Socioeconomic Situation."
