One of the best-selling cars of all time, with a reputation for being unbreakable and Toyota's credibility behind it. On the other, the challenger, the Nissan Sentra, a car constantly evolving and boasting a stunning design. Its focus: to take sales away from the Corolla. Starting with the engine, both use 2.0-liter 16V four-cylinder engines, but the Corolla is a flex-fuel engine and the Sentra runs exclusively on gasoline. The Toyota also has an advantage in power and performance, delivering 175 hp and 21.3 kgfm of torque. It features a 10-speed CVT transmission and promises a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time of 9.2 seconds and a top speed of 205 km/h (125 mph). The Nissan has 151 hp and 20 kgfm of torque. The transmission is an 8-speed CVT, and it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds and has a top speed of 200 km/h. Very similar numbers. Both sedans come with electric steering, independent suspension, and 17-inch wheels on all trims. Another advantage the Toyota Corolla has is its trunk. Its trunk capacity is 470 liters compared to the Nissan Sentra's 466 liters, a barely noticeable difference. In terms of rear space, the Sentra is larger thanks to its longer wheelbase. Inside, both the Corolla and Sentra feature well-appointed interiors with rubberized materials and glossy black accents. The Corolla boasts a better 12.3-inch fully digital instrument panel and a 10-inch multimedia system, which is more intuitive and offers wireless phone mirroring. The Sentra, on the other hand, still features an analog speedometer and tachometer, a 7-inch trip computer, and an 8-inch multimedia system with wireless phone mirroring, in addition to being outdated. It's worth noting that both cars are well-equipped from the entry-level version, have competitive prices, similar depreciation, and similar maintenance costs. So, which one are you?
