You know the score with trains at Swindon, Great Western Railway, and freight, but pick the right day and you come across some gems, such as my visit with a test train from Derby R.T.C. Swindon train station has four platforms; platform two is a bay, serving Westbury-bound DMUs. Just one train operating company uses the station, that is GWR. Keep an eye out for sidings if you come from the London direction. On my visit, it contained locomotives and departmentals.
