UK 6 🇬🇧 Walk Through London’s Most Iconic Landmarks in One Day! The Shard, Tower Bridge & Sky Garden Many people visiting London only plan to see Big Ben and the London Eye, but in reality, walking along the River Thames is one of the best ways to truly experience the city. This time, we started from London’s South Bank and visited the tallest building in Western Europe — The Shard. Standing at 306 meters tall, this glass skyscraper is impressive from every angle and showcases London’s modern side. Next, we visited one of London’s most iconic landmarks — Tower Bridge. Many people mistakenly think this is London Bridge, but they are actually different bridges. What makes Tower Bridge special is that it still operates as a bascule bridge today. When large ships pass through, the bridge lifts from the middle, demonstrating engineering brilliance from more than a century ago. Right next to Tower Bridge stands the Tower of London, a fortress with nearly a thousand years of history. From a medieval castle to a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it has witnessed the development of both the British monarchy and the city of London. Continuing along the River Thames, we also visited the Monument to the Great Fire of London. The devastating fire of 1666 nearly destroyed the entire city, yet it also paved the way for the modern London we know today. Finally, we visited The Garden at 120, a free observation deck overlooking London’s financial district and the famous “Gherkin” building. Although we were unable to reserve tickets for Sky Garden, this location still offers fantastic views of London’s skyline. What makes London truly fascinating is not just its attractions, but the way modern skyscrapers stand side by side with centuries-old architecture.
