Bedroom Makeover for My Daughters

This bedroom has been a pain in the a$$ to decorate and here's why... the room is used by both of my older daughters, but not at the same time. When my older daughter is away at school, my middle daughter moves in. Not ideal, but better than having an empty room for half the year! The layout was also tricky to say the least... with two windows and two doors, there weren't too many options for the bed. Both girls wanted the bed in this corner and so it stays. The existing loveseat was from our old house and needless to say, it's too big for this space so a new loveseat will help. The existing desk was a DIY from years ago when my oldest was in first grade and it's dinged up and too small. Neither girl really uses a desk that often, but both liked having one so I decided to incorporate a work surface into a new piece of storage. I showed them vision boards and they agreed on a blue scheme so paint samples went up on the wall and I chose Slate Blue as the wall/ trim color. Next step was to build storage. I found a $40 desk on Facebook marketplace to use as the foundation and then I'll build and add shelves above. With the room painted, the windows felt a little bare so I decided to build something called a window cornice that is a decorative feature to mount above a window. Building a cornice turned out to be easy but upholstering it was a little trickier... I did it, but the two inside corners caused some cursing. Finally, I added a cute gallery wall over the loveseat with some family photos and then an art wall over the bed from budget Flower Mart posters I found online. Overall, the girls (BOTH of them!!!) love the new space and so do I. I love that storage is more thoughtful and that the overall space is much more cohesive and color drenched.
