Wangdü: The Great Cloud of Blessings, Wang Dü is an extraordinary prayer that brings within one’s power, all phenomena in the entire universe, while at its most powerful, it bestows the ability to tame one’s mind. Therefore, it can be said to have two main effects: an outer and an inner one. By relying on the prayer, one gains in the outer sense, the ability to benefit all living beings; while its inner effect offers one the ability to control discursive thoughts, and thereby attain unrestrained control of the body and the mind. The Prayer Which Magnetizes All That Appears and Exists by Mipham Rinpoche VISUALISATION – NINE DEITIES There are nine deities supplicated in the short text. According to Khenpo Sodargye: “H.H. Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche once asked an artist to draw the nine deities according to the description in Wang Du.” This is the image they drew: Pema Gyalpo is the central deity portrayed in Sambhogakaya form. Pema Gyalpo is one of the eight forms of Guru Padmasambhava, and is normally represented like this: 2. At the top, Amitabha. 3. Below him is Vajradharma (Dorje Cho). These are at the level of Dharmakaya. 4. Red Avalokiteshvara is top right (of the central deity), 5. Red Hayagriva is on the top left. Although Hayagriva is not actually mentioned in the Wangdu prayer and is called Powerful Heruka. 6. ‘Secret Primordial Awareness’ Guhyajñana is on the centre right. 7. Vajravarahi is on the centre left. 8. Kurukulla is in the bottom right corner. 9. Dope Gyalpo (Lotus King) is in the bottom left corner. Great Cloud of Blessings: Supplication that Magnetizes All Appearance-Existence by Mipham Rinpoche  ཨོཾ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྂ་ཧྲཱིཿ om ah hung hrih dechen barwa wang gi podrang du detong sosor tokpé yeshe ku machak deden pemé rangzhin lé dorjé nyima nangwa chenpö pal In the palace of power, the blazing of great bliss, Are the embodiments of the wisdom of discernment, union of bliss and emptiness: Each on a lotus, its nature bliss free from all attachment, And the splendour of a great, illuminating vajra sun— chöku nangwa tayé dorjé chö jikten wangchuk tukjé jechak zuk pema gyalpö khordé ngawang gyur nangsi zilnön wangchen heruka Dharmakāya Amitābha and Vajradharma, Avalokiteśvara, Lord of the World, the very manifestation of compassion, Padma Gyalpo, all of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa beneath your control, Powerful heruka, subjugator of all that appears and exists, sangwa yeshe benza varahi demchok döpé gyalpo dechen ter malü kyegü yitrok rikjema choktün chakgyé wangchuk detong gar ‘Secret Wisdom’ (Guhyajñāna) and Vajravārāhī, Döpé Gyalpo, King of Desire, ecstasy supreme, source of the wisdom of great bliss, Kurukullā, who captivates the mind of every living being without exception, Masters and mistresses of supreme and ordinary mudrās, dancing in bliss and emptiness, wangdzé dorjé pawo daki tsok nangtong nyampa chenpö ngang nyi du dorjé ku yi gar gyi si sum yo gakmé sung gi zhé dré kham sum guk Hosts of vajra ḍākas and ḍākinīs attract and magnetize. Remaining always within the state of great equality of appearance and emptiness, With the dance of your vajra body, you cause the three planes of existence to tremble; With the sound of your laughter, your unceasing enlightened speech, you draw in the three worlds; özer marpö khordé yong la khyab sizhi dangchü yo zhing düparjé dorjé chakpa chenpö tuk kyi ni nam nyi ngödrub dö gü chok tsol zhing Rays of red light burst out to fill all of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa And cause the vital essence of conditioned existence and ultimate peace to vibrate and be gathered in. With your enlightened mind of great vajra passion, You grant the supreme of all things desired—the two kinds of siddhis; dorjé chakkyu zhakpa chenpo yi nangsi dewa chenpor domjepa tayé gyutrul drawé rolgarchen til gyi gongbu chewa zhin zhukpé And with your great vajra hooks and lassos You bind the world of appearance and existence in great bliss.
