Exploring Estes Park and the Stanley Hotel
Welcome back to Hippie Bliss Travel. Today my daughter and I are exploring Estes Park, Colorado. She wanted to go see the Stanley Hotel. We drove up highway 36 passing through Boulder, Lyons before arriving in Estes Park, Our first stop was the Stanley. We walked through the maze out front of the hotel. Then we went in and explored the lobby and the basement where they had a chocolate store, snack shop, meeting place for the tours, whiskey tasting and many historical photos. Upstairs at the hotel is off limits to the public and is only for hotel guest. After that we went and explored the grounds. Then we went downtown and did some window shopping and headed to lunch at Antlers rooftop tavern. The food was excellent. Then we drove home down highway 34. Which was the sight of the 1976 Big Thompson Flood. Come along for the ride. #hippieblisstravel #exploring #history #over50travel #travel #colorado #estespark #budgettravel .
