Sciencewise is a respected and rich source of knowledge and expertise on when and how to carry out public dialogue on new and emerging science and technology. The Sciencewise programme has supported more than 70 public dialogues, on topics ranging from digital identities to data science, synthetic biology to stem cells, genomic medicine to geoengineering. Since 2004, we have provided expertise and financial support to commissioners in research councils, government departments and other publicly funded bodies. This lunch and learn session is designed for potential commissioners of public dialogue - research councils, government departments and agencies and other publicly funded bodies. It is for people curious about the role of public dialogue in their own work or thinking about how they might commission a dialogue. The session provides a rapid overview of what to bear in mind, the process and the practicalities. In this session, we Run through the key elements of a public dialogue and what you might need to think about in advance of commissioning a public dialogue.
