HOW NOT TO INTRODUCE YOUR FRIEND TO TANGO
Special thanks to IMSO Tango by Yelizaveta Yelizaveta produces great content regarding Tango including teaching, podcast, interviews, and more. Check out her YT channel / @imsotango Watch the entire interview here: • Zouk Dancer Walks into a Milonga: conversa... Elena’s article on Medium: / i-went-to-my-first-milonga-lets-talk-about-it In this video: We wanted to respond to this interview and give our perspective as Tango dancers. The full length interview is pretty long and we did our best to cover the first part of the interview. There are obviously more parts to respond. Let us know in the comments if you want a Part 2. Left Foot Right Foot (LFRF) The intention of Left Foot Right Foot is to provide insight on all forms of dance with a particular focus on Argentine Tango as both of us are Tango Dancers who have more than 10+ years of experience in dancing. We are heavily inspired by other fellow creators in different fields such as Aba N Preach who primarily discuss relationships and culture. As well as the FUNG BROS. who primarily focus on topics dealing with Asian Americans. Dance has been a vital part of our lives and we wanted to share our experiences and encourage others to try all forms of dance as we firmly believe that through such shared experiences we can create a better world that is more understanding and connected. We also aim to cover the beautiful music of Argentine Tango which is not as known in American popular culture. Perhaps you have heard some versions of Tango Music in your local Starbucks or hotel lobby (elevator). You were probably listening to some electronic tango music that were popular in the early 2000s. Artists like Gotan Project or Bajofondo are regulars in this genre. Or perhaps you are a classical music fan which influenced some of the great Argentine Tango composers like Anibal Troilo, Osvaldo Pugliese, Juan Darienzo, Carlos DiSarlo, Miguel Calo, Osvaldo Fresedo, Francisco Canaro, Enrique Rodriguez, and Julio DeCaro to name a few. Most people have heard renditions of Astor Piazzolla. We have such a passion for Argentine Tango Music especially the music composed during the 1920's-1960's. And while you may listen to popular artists today like Beyonce, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj, Drake, we also want you to discover music that does not have a similar sound to popular music today. For those that are interested in learning Argentine Tango: We have great resources both online and in person. We like to support our friends Miriam Larici and Leonardo Barrionuevo Miriam Leonardo Tango and miriamleonardotango.com Other resources: Tangomeet - Online Tango classes Tango-Space - Argentine Tango School If you are looking for Tango in the US. Tangomango.org is a popular resource to find your local classes, practicas, and milongas Find some of your favorite dancers and favorite places to learn on this website.
