706 tonne vehicle escorted by police through tiny old English village

A very large 706 tonne combination of vehicles haul a generator through villages in Norfolk, UK, passing a 13th century church. Police have to shut roads for the 120 wheeled vehicle as it changes directions twice, in order to squeeze through two separate bends. The fourth and final abnormal load eventually arrived at the Walpole Grid Stability Facility. The tractor-trailer combination was pulled by a newly acquired and specially built Trojan 8870, before switching to an MAN TGX tractor (with another on the rear). The combination totalled 62 metres in length, 5.29m in width, 5.19m in height, and had a total weight of 706 tonnes. While the load itself weighed 365 tonnes. Norfolk and Suffolk Roads and Armed Policing Team escorted the wide load from Sutton Bridge to Walpole via Freedom Bridge in Wisbech. Several police cars and motorcycles were used to shut down roads as the oversized load moved. Manchetts used a recovery vehicle to move cars blocking the route. The Trojan 8870 is a heavily modified Alvis Unipower, built in the UK in 2015. The 8x8 ballasted prime mover was specifically designed by Abnormal Load Engineering (ALE) for heavy haulage, prior to being acquired by Mammoet. Allelys then purchased the vehicles, putting them into service in spring 2025 to be used with their MAN TGX tractors. The Trojan is powered by a Volvo Penta engine, and produces 700hp.
