Muhammad Bilal Ramzi (19), a cadet at the Malahayati Maritime Polytechnic from Sabang City, died after undergoing intensive care at the Dr. Zainoel Abidin Regional General Hospital (RSUZA), Banda Aceh. Bilal had been hospitalized since June 12, 2026, after suffering serious burns from the explosion in the engine room of the KMP Aceh Hebat 2, which occurred while the ship was docked at Ulee Lheue Port, Banda Aceh. The sad news quickly spread through various Sabang community chat groups. Andri Setiawan, General Manager of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Banda Aceh Branch, confirmed the news and stated that the victim died after undergoing intensive care at RSUZA. ASDP stated that from the beginning, they had provided assistance to the victims and their families, including assistance with the handling process and coordinating the repatriation of the remains to their hometowns. According to Serambinews.com, the body of Muhammad Bilal Ramzi and his family arrived at Balohan Port, Sabang, at around 2:45 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) on Friday (June 26, 2026) aboard the KMP BRR. Muhammad Bilal Ramzi was the second victim to die in the KMP Aceh Hebat 2 explosion. Previously, Fakhri Herdi Eko (19), also a cadet at the Malahayati Maritime Polytechnic, died on Saturday (June 20, 2026) at around 10:55 p.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) while undergoing medical treatment. The KMP Aceh Hebat 2 explosion occurred on June 12, 2026, in the ship's engine room while the ship was docked at Ulee Lheue Port. The incident caused 15 burns, with the majority of the victims being cadets at the Malahayati Maritime Polytechnic who were undergoing field practice on board. All victims received treatment at the Banda Aceh Regional General Hospital (RSUZA). Several victims suffered severe burns and required intensive care. Meanwhile, RSUZA Public Relations Officer, Rahmadi, had not yet commented on Muhammad Bilal Ramzi's death when contacted as of the time of this report. The condition of the other victims is still awaiting official information from the relevant authorities.
