When it's in a hotpot, we call it "알." You know, there's a Korean dish called cheese dakgalbi. Apparently, putting cheese on it wasn't originally thought of in Korea. However, when it first became popular in Japan, it was found to be too spicy for Japanese people, so cheese was added to tone it down. Dakgalbi itself is a Korean dish, but the "cheese" dakgalbi that is now available in Korea is apparently a re-imported dish from Japan. Korean food and cheese really go together, genius.
