Mount Misen is a mountain located on Miyajima Island in Miyajima-cho, Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. Its elevation is 535m. This time, I'm climbing the Momijidani course, so I walked towards the ropeway station. There are three climbing routes to Mount Misen. The Momijidani course is considered a beginner-friendly course. I plan to descend via the Daishoin course. There was a deer. The Momijidani River Garden erosion control facility is designated as an important cultural property. The walking path is very well maintained and pleasant to walk on, with plenty of shade. I walked to the junction with the ropeway station. I walked to Akaido. This is Kiezu-no-Reikado. It is said that the goma fire lit by Kobo Daishi has been burning here for 1200 years. This is a sacred place for lovers. This fire is the source of the "Flame of Peace" in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. https://niyodogawa.org/blog/outdoor/w... The main hall houses Kokuzo Bosatsu. The plaque on Sankido is in the handwriting of Ito Hirobumi. It enshrines Sanki Daigongen, the god of demons. I passed Kannondo. The Kuguri-iwa rock towers above. It's said that the mountain's height has been gradually decreasing due to earthquakes in recent years (sweat;). Near the summit, there's a continuous stretch of strangely shaped rocks formed by the weathering of granite. A magnificent panoramic view unfolds. We arrived at the summit of Mt. Misen. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom. The elevation is 535m. We decided to eat our lunch at the observation deck. The view from the observation deck was superb. The cherry blossoms were in bloom. We had lunch here with rice balls we bought at Seven-Eleven. Of course, we didn't forget our snacks either (lol). After finishing our meal, we went up to the observation deck on the roof. A 360-degree view unfolded before us. The shop on the first floor was selling summit badges. We decided to descend. We descended to the Fushō Reikadō (Unsinkable Fire Hall). We took the Daishōin course on our way down. We paid our respects at the Mizukake Jizōdō (Water-Pouring Jizo Hall). My grandmother said she wanted to climb Kujiraiwa (Whale Rock). It looks like Mt. Sankenzan is visible in the distance. We walked to the Niomon Gate. It seems to have been rebuilt in 2012. The Nio statues also look relatively new. There was a huge single rock formation called Maku-iwa. This route doesn't have distance markers, so it's probably better to use it on the descent. We descended to the gazebo. The view is great. Apparently, this is the site of the Satomi Teahouse. We headed towards Shiraito Falls, which is designated a natural monument. We visited Takimiya Shrine. Takifudo. The Japanese andromeda (Pieris japonica) was in full bloom. We descended to Daishoin Temple.
