Testimony of Esti Morag, a member of Kibbutz Nahal Oz, who spent the Black Sabbath, October 7, in her family home in the Sdot neighborhood with her husband Adar, their two sons – Oren and Nevo, and their parents, who had come to spend the holiday with their family. They heard gunshots, shouting, and Arabic conversation outside the window of the family home. The boys realized that this was a different event from what they knew from previous operations, and remained quiet. Esti guarded the window and Adar guarded the door, and they took turns from time to time. As the day progressed, more and more shocking news arrived about friends and family from the kibbutz and the surrounding area who had been injured. Towards midnight, a military force arrived to rescue the family. The rescue was delayed due to a malfunction in the military vehicle, and Esti invited her other rescued friends, who were waiting exposed under the open sky, to enter their home's compound. The Morag family was then evacuated from the kibbutz by bus, and early in the morning they arrived at Kibbutz Mishmar Ha'emek, where they are still today, along with most of the Nahal Oz community. #Edut710 The next day, the stories of thousands of residents and fighters, children, young and old, Israelis and foreigners, Jews and non-Jews, will be eternal testimony to the events of 7.10.23.
