La porta chiusa. Gli hikikomori nella prospettiva della metapsicologia freudiana | Pamela Cagna

This paper analyzes the phenomenon of hikikomori from the perspective of Freudian metapsychology, drawing on Franco Baldini's work on external reality (2024). Through the distinction between perceptual image (Wahrnehmungsbild) and memory image (Erinnerungsbild), it is argued that the hikikomori subject does not lose perceptual contact with reality but rather experiences a massive devaluation (Entwertung) of its conceptual meanings, a configuration that places them in the realm of narcissistic neurosis. The conflict between the ego and the ego ideal (Ichideal), shame as its signal, and the concept of mourning blocked by shame form the cornerstones of the proposed interpretation. The paper concludes with a critique of the DSM's descriptive nosography and a reflection on the nature of the contribution psychoanalysis can make as an autonomous scientific discipline. 🎥 Nosography, Clinical Practice, and Metapsychology.
