A TASTE OF SOLVANG, CALIFORNIA IN 1 DAY (DANISH CAPITAL OF AMERICA) FOOD TOUR!

1 day in Solvang, California, commonly referred to as the Danish Capital of America! Such a charming town filled with history and traditions. Solvang was founded in 1911 by three Danish immigrants who purchased the land and named it "Solvang" which means "sunny fields" in Danish. This of course attracted other Danish immigrants, and so the town began with lots of European influence. Solvang is to this day a special little town to Denmark and has been visited by Danish royalty several times! We start of the day at Solvang Restaurant eating their famous æbleskiver, a spherical pancake dish that dates back to the vikings! Then it is time to take on the town, a walking tour, exploring the shops, and eating way too much food in this quaint little taste of Europe in the heart of California. Olsen's Bakery, Solvang Bakery, and Bit o' Denmark were delicious! We got a kringle, petit four, and mocha waffle aat Olsen's bakery, and they were so good we went back at the end of the day to buy ourselves some sweets to take home! Bit o' Denmark we tried a Danish Red Lager from Figuroa Brewing Company, herring three ways, and wiener schnitzel. We finished the day at the Santa Ines mission.
