Arizona sober living fraud targets children, a dead tribal member | FOX 10 Phoenix
Thomas Heard pleaded guilty to solicitation and conspiracy to commit fraudulent schemes after exploiting Native American clients and billing Arizona's Medicaid agency for more than $30 million. Heard Health Care allegedly submitted claims using a highly repetitive billing pattern for a blanket diagnosis of uncomplicated alcohol dependence, including billing for children and a deceased individual. The state is seeking a three-year prison sentence followed by seven years of supervised probation for Heard, whose sentencing has been rescheduled for June 12. FOX 10's Justin Lum reports.
