Background: Located a short distance off the southern part of Peninsular Malaysia's east coast, Pulau Tioman is one of the most popular scuba diving destinations in the region. A designated nature reserve, the island is ringed by charming beaches while a rocky tropical rainforest dominates its interior. Visitors to the island would stay at one of the numerous beaches. There are essentially no inland roads on the island, thus the only way to travel between the beaches is via boat. The island offers a wide variety of accommodations and has a good number of supporting facilities (e.g. restaurants and dive shops) at most of the beaches.
