Quetta, Mastung, and Kalat are three major, interconnected historical territories located along the strategic N-25 Highway corridor in central-northern Balochistan, Pakistan. It sits at the bottom of the famous Lak Pass mountain bottleneck.Kalat: Positioned further south of Mastung, serving as a high-altitude central plateau.Historical & Administrative LinksThe Khanate of Kalat: Historically, Mastung and Quetta were parts of Sarawan, a core division of the former Khanate of Kalat princely state.District Splits: Mastung was officially a sub-division of the Kalat District until it was granted independent district status in 1991.Recent Restructuring (2026): In May 2026, the Balochistan provincial cabinet approved a major restructuring. Under this new directive, Mastung District was officially transferred from Kalat Division into Quetta Division, while the remaining parts of the old Kalat division were renamed Khuzdar Division.Culture, Climate, and EconomyLanguage & Heritage: The primary local languages across this belt are Brahui and Balochi.
