Jeparadise (AKA Jeparit) on the Wimmera

This video features the town of Jeparit itself, and the Historic Museum. Jeparit fishing. A small town NW of Horsham with a population of approx 342. It is below lakes Hindmarsh and Albacutya. Elevation 85 Metres and perched on the banks of the Wimmera River which flows in to the lakes mentioned previously. Co Ordinates South 36 08' 00" , East 141 59' 00" The river holds a good population of native fish species namely Murray Cod, Golden Perch (Yellowbelly) and perhaps English Perch (Redfin) Possibly Silver Perch too. Two pubs, of which, only one is open for two days from 6PM till close. This is not a bustling town by any stretch, however that is one reason we came to visit. Cropping wheat and other grains is the main support for the farmers families and townsfolk. Play is around fishing, golf, AFL footy and netball, supported by neighboring towns of Rainbow, Hopetoun, Beulah and Dimboola. One of Australia's most renown Prime Ministers was born here. The right honorable Sir Robert Menzies. There is a massive Historic Museum just out of town that should not be missed. Recreation facilities have received a significant boost with the construction of riverside viewing platforms and infrastructure that supports fishing and tourism.
