Vintage Macro Monster! Canon EF 100–300mm f/5.6L + Life-Size Converter

Can a telephoto L lens really pull off macro work? In this video, I test a new-to-me Canon EF 100–300mm f/5.6L, paired with the Canon Life-Size Converter, using a Canon 80D to see how far this setup can go in close-up photography. I shot watches as macro subjects to evaluate overall image quality. The results honestly surprised me — this older L-series lens delivers excellent detail, compression, and subject isolation when combined with the Life-Size Converter. This is not a replacement for a dedicated macro lens — but if you already own this particular vintage Canon L glass, this combo might be a very interesting alternative. ------------ Like what you see?
