Yoder. This is a case about the free exercise clause of the first amendment, which is there to protect the freedom of religion from unnecessary government encroachment. Ultimately, the Court decided that Wisconsin's compulsory education law was indeed a violation of these Amish families' right to free exercise under the first amendment.
