LET'S MAKE A MILLION A 1936 comedy starring Edward Everett Horton and Charlotte Wynters.

Released in December 1936, by Paramount Pictures 'Let's Make a Million' is a comedy film directed by Ray McCarey. The film stars Edward Everett Horton and Charlotte Wynters. Edward Everett Horton appeared in countless films from the silent era through to 1970, mostly in supporting roles. In this comparatively rare title however he plays the leading man. So far, I haven't noticed this film elsewhere on the internet. (That's not to say it definitely hasn't been uploaded elsewhere; it may well be on a site of which I’m not aware). Nowadays, Edward Everett Horton is probably best remembered by the TV generation as the storyteller in 'Fractured Fairy Tales' and 'Rocky & Bullwinkle'. TECHNICAL STUFF (for film buffs, especially projectionist and archivist types): A collector friend of mine retrieved this comedy feature from a trunk full of deteriorating 35mm film (nitrate based) that was stored in his backyard. He managed to transfer all 5,040-feet (5½ ten-inch reels) just in time before having to discard it. Just recently my friend ran the video file on his PC and discovered that, due to a badly made film join, a short section was transferred out-of-frame. This formerly unnoticed fault (which persists for one minute and 45-sec.) begins 20-mins in from the start of the movie near the end of reel two and continues until the second change-over cue appears. As the accompanying dialogue is sufficient to convey what is happening at this point this defective section was left in. In addition, a tongue-in-cheek apology for the defect has been added prior to the movie's opening credits. Before uploading, the film's original soundtrack has been 'de-noised' so that previously distracting thumps, clicks and hiss due to abrasion, scratches and joins are now absent. The film is very near complete. Running at its proper rate of at 24 frames/second there appears to be only four minutes of (obviously not-essential) footage missing.
